Function.
A clutch master cylinder is located on the bulk head of the vehicle. It is connected to the clutch slave cylinder through pipes and hoses. When you push the clutch pedal, brake fluid flows from the clutch master cylinder to the slave cylinder, applying the pressure necessary to move (engage) the clutch.

** This model uses the brake master reservoir to feed the clutch master cylinder (One reservoir feeds both cylinders)
